PHARMACY TECHNICIAN : Full-time (60 hrs per pay period), days with rotating weekends.
JOB SUMMARY: Under a pharmacists supervision, perform designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, labeling and delivering of medications, including sterile admixtures, prepackaged or unit dose medications.
In addition, performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy records, inventory control and preparations of medication orders.
In accordance with accepted national standards, federal and state laws, and hospital/department policies and procedures, a pharmacy technician is responsible for assisting the staff pharmacists and the director of pharmacy in the day to day operations of the pharmacy department to assure excellence in patient care.
Salary Range: Min/Hour: $12.32 Mid/Hour: $15.40 Max/Hour: $18.48 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENCIAL FUNCTIONS): Assist the pharmacist with specific dispensing responsibilities: Transport medications, drug delivery devices and other pharmacy related equipment/records between the pharmacy and nursing units or physician offices Review medication order entry
Prepare medications and supplies for dispensing: Repackage (unit-dose) bulk medications Refill medications to automated dispensing machines Prepare and generate batch fills Perform IV additive functions and preparation as directed by the pharmacist Ensure the clean room(s) and related equipment are cleaned and maintained per organizational policy and procedure
Assume specific inventory responsibilities: Maintain shelf stock and inventory as applicable Check, price, and shelve incoming supplies Process invoices and purchase orders Monthly inspect for inventory outdates and replace as needed Perform daily temperature checks on pharmacy refrigerator(s) and freezer(s) Perform other pharmacy related tasks or duties as requested Inspect Porter Practice Management physician offices monthly Check for outdates Ensure appropriate storage of medication Adhere to all related organizational policies and procedures Additional functions for as assigned by the Pharmacy Director: All drugs will be packaged with a bar code if not with one from manufacturer All drugs will be scanned when coming into pharmacy (from wholesaler to inventory) in order to keep all barcodes functional NDC numbers need to be verified and updated routinely Drug pricing updated routinely Documentation of EyeWashstation in addition IV room cleaning and refrigerator logs eAudit 340B report daily, and implement improved Infinity Link software Assist pharmacist with refilling Anesthesia Pyxis cabinets daily Assist pharmacist with blister packaging for Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing Daily delivery of medications to Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing Billing functions QUALIFICATIONS High School graduate or equivalent Eighteen years of age or older Basic typing and/or computer skills, preferred Previous hospital/pharmacy experience, preferred Basic math skills Must apply for National certification (CPhT) within one year of hiring Must register with the State Board of Pharmacy PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Work frequently produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue.
Involves contact and communication with patients, physicians, and nursing personnel.
