Description

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II procures, prepares, packages, and distributes and disposes medications and pharmaceutical supplies to assist the department in providing quality pharmaceutical care for all patients.

Shift Time: 7a-3:30p

  • Maintains an established inventory of drugs and commonly used supplies, minor housekeeping activities and department cleaning/disinfecting/decontaminating standards, re-orders and stocks items upon delivery to ensure immediate availability.

  • Ensures Pharmacist product verification and facilitates the timely and appropriate distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.

  • Maintains accurate records and patient profiles including charging and crediting.

  • Responds timely to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages, and triaging requests appropriately.

  • Conducts regular quality assurance inspections focused on TJC requirements, including the examination of product integrity and expiration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

  • Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional-related school preferred.

  • 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP-accredited tech training program preferred.

  • Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.

  • Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.

Pharmacy Technician II-IV Salary:

  • $20.27-$35.31/hour

  • The grade and salary of the position are based on specific criteria met within the qualifications of each level, relevant experience, skills, performance, and internal equity.

  • This position is eligible for shift differentials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Medium-Heavy) 36-75 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; (frequently); 10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work. Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators may be required.
