Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director and under the immediate supervision of the Distribution Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of pharmaceutical tasks. Assists in the overall operation of the pharmacy by providing accurate, efficient and timely medication supplies to patients and assists Clinical Pharmacists in providing optimal pharmaceutical therapy in Acute Care, Transitional Care, Oncology and Home Care for geriatric, adult and pediatric patients.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current California Pharmacy Technician License is required upon hire.

  • Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) Cert required within one year of hire.

Knowledge:

  • Six months experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an acute care hospital pharmacy, providing unit dose and IV additive service or home care pharmacy strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of medications and use, the ability to read physician orders and familiarity with medical terminology is required.

Skills:

  • Basic High School Chemistry experience, basic math competency, basic mechanical aptitude skill, good interpersonal communication skills, and basic computer aptitude.
