Community Rehabilitation Hospital South is a 44-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the south side of Indianapolis, a patient-focused, specialized rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced a loss of function due to an injury or illness such as brain and spinal cord injury, stroke, burns, amputation and multiple trauma.

Pharmacy Technician

Must be licensed as Pharmacy Technician and have experience with IV's.

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician works with the pharmacists to prepare and deliver medications, perform routine duties and assist with clerical functions.

ResponsibilitiesPerforms functions which help keep the department clean and orderly.

  • Assists the pharmacist in responding to the requests and needs of patients, and hospital staff.

  • Fills and delivers the medication to the medstation Pyxis ES accurately and in accordance with departmental policy.

  • Performs delivery to and from nursing units and carries out any procedures associated with this responsibility.

  • Performs unit dose packaging safely according to procedure. Maintains proper packaging records.

  • Admixes sterile products like fluids, antibiotics and feeding solutions for intravenous use under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

  • Assists with the gathering of work load statistics.

  • Identifies functional safety needs for the individual patient or customer and takes appropriate action.

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.

  • Professionally answers departmental phone within 3 rings.

  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Demonstrates understanding of Joint Commission standards.

  • Demonstrates commitment to a healthy working environment.

  • May act as a preceptor/mentor to other pharmacy technician(s).

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.

  • Wears identification while on duty.

  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.

  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations.

  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.

Attends departmental in-services and successfully completes annual competencies/education requirements.

  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.

  • Complies with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.

  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.

Experience/Skills:

  • High School graduate.

  • Prior experience in hospital pharmacy is desirable.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification as required by the State

Key Job Responsibilities: * Assist pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the state board of pharmacy * Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations * Work daily with Leadership to ensure the right medications are put in the right packets * Run automated machinery required to pre-sort and package medications * Fill exception trays with appropriate medication * Transition PillPacks through different workflow stages from initial dispense through quality control * Count and fill prescription vials and affix labels on bulk prescription items * Pack and ship completed PillPacks including printing and affixing appropriate labels on dispenser, shipping boxes * Sort and triage the right boxes to ship at the right time * Aid the distribution manager and distribution pharmacists with receiving, shipping, counting, and packing * Clean, and help maintain, equipment and work areas * Package medications for dispensing and for delivery * Work a flexible schedule - shifts will possibly start and end outside of normal business hours * Perform other tasks assigned while working in a fast paced environment * Standing during shifts lasting up to 12 hours (standard full-time shifts are 10 hours excluding overtime, flex and part-time shifts may vary) * Lifting and moving products up to 49 lbs in weight * Lifting, bending, reaching above the head, kneeling, crouching, and/or stretching for 12 hours (standard full-time shifts are 10 hours excluding overtime, flex and part-time shifts may vary) * Pushing and pulling product up to 49 lbs in weight for 12 hours (standard full-time shifts are 10 hours excluding overtime, flex and part-time shifts may vary) * Manual dexterity of both hands and wrists Basic Qualifications * High school or equivalent diploma * Indiana State Board of Pharmacy License in good standing (This includes Pharmacy Technician, * Trainee, and Assistant Licenses) * 6+ months of experience working with computer and web based tools Preferred Qualifications * National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or NHA) * Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member * Strong organization skills and attention to detail * Ability to recognize and identify patient medications * Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced work environment while consistently meeting standards for productivity and quality Salary * $15/hourly for Licensed Pharmacy Technicians * $16.50/hourly for Certified Pharmacy Technician (NHA or PTCB) Shifts * Sunday - Wednesday 7:30a-6:00p * Wednesday - Saturday 7:30a-6:00p * Orientation on Sunday and Wednesday depending on your shift Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
