SUMMARY

FunctionProvides technical assistance in the preparation and delivery of pharmaceuticals and equipment from Pharmacy to patients and performs cashiering functions.

Scope

Impacts the dispensing and delivery of medications and equipment from Pharmacy.

Essential Job Functions

Assists in prescription preparation. Affixes labels to prescription containers.

Calculates prescription prices for outpatients and employees. Enters prescription orders into the outpatient computer program. Files prescriptions and maintains prescription refill documentation.

Assists in providing pharmacy-related insurance information to patients and employees. Processes refunds and credits. Endorses incoming checks and prepares totals of cash, checks and credit cards.

Prepares cash reconciliation documentation and maintains all Pharmacy receipt statements. Prepares daily hospital deposit. Provides statistical reports on sales and collections on Pharmacy and patient payments.

Performs duties within the scope of responsibilities and as delegated in compliance with the Division's policies and procedures. Prepares medications and sterile products as directed. Maintains adequate inventories in designated areas.

Receives, maintains and issues merchandise as directed. Delivers pharmaceutical items to patient-care areas. Monitors and maintains Pharmacy equipment.

Reports equipment malfunctions to the Charge Pharmacist. Assists in data collection, quality assurance and record keeping activities in assigned areas.

Other duties as assigned.

Education Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. No experience.

Certification Required:

Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Must pass pre-employment skills a test as required and administered by Human Resources.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES 2. Accurately and efficiently pull drugs to refill controlled access cabinets 3. Accurately and efficiently deliver medications/supplies to designated areas 4. Order medications/supplies to maintain appropriate par levels 5. Restock medications/supplies 2. Accurately and efficiently prepare extemporaneous compounds 3. Repackaging bulk medications 4. Unit Dose Processing and Distribution . Accurately and efficiently fill unit dose carts and first doses Sterile and Nonsterile Compounding/Preparations 1. Completes all assigned Quality Assurance and productivity reports including record keeping and appropriate follow up Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
