The Pharmacy Department at Hartford Hospital utilizes a decentralized model with pharmacists embedded on medical teams to advice on optimal drug therapy. We also have an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Residency program, an active Oncology infusion service, and a Retail/Specialty outpatient pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Technician Purchasing Assistant supports with all aspects of purchasing in the Pharmacy to support the daily needs of the department and the hospital. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

• Daily purchases from wholesalers, after review and approval with Pharmacy Buyer

• Fulfill floor stock requisitions

• Identify, communicate, and react to product shortage situations

• Perform daily receiving activities

• Assists with all aspects of items loaned and borrowed from other institutions

• Maintain up to date ordering information throughout the department

• Conveys information to and assists clients, buyers and office staff in an accurate, courteous and respectful manner.

• Works effectively as a team member with customer departments to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration to bring cost eff

Education:

• Associate's Degree required

Experience:

• Prior experience in purchasing preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred.

• Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
