Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to
join our pharmacy operations at our Downtown Fort Myers location!

The successful candidate MUST be a Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of
Florida and MUST have one year of pharmacy work experience, pharmaceutical
training and working knowledge of weights and measures.


  • Assists in most aspects of filling prescriptions. Provides primary assistance
    in the counting and pouring of pharmaceuticals using both apothecary and metric
    weights and measures. Reconstitution of pediatric solutions and suspensions,
    selection of appropriate container and application of label. This is performed
    under proper supervision of pharmacists.

  • Assist patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders
    including phone orders. Uses the computer and appropriate software in processing
    prescriptions. Must be able to use problem solving abilities when issues are
    encountered during prescription processing.

  • Assists in maintaining a complete and up to date patient profile including
    name, address, chart, allergy information, insurance status and any additional
    information, as needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies required for
    daily processing such as plastic containers, bottles, labels and bags.

  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy,
    in accordance with local, state, federal, and company regulations

  • At point of pick up, verify that customer receives correct prescription(s).

  • Assist other pharmacy technicians.

  • Maintain knowledge of loss prevention techniques

  • Screen telephone calls for the pharmacist

  • Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization

  • Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims

  • Maintain proper Vaccines For Children (VFC) inventories and proper storage
    according to manufactures and VFC guidelines.

  • Complete weekly distribution center medication orders, place orders on
    shelves, and verify all associated paperwork

  • Assist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions

  • Responsible for maintaining proper pharmacy medication inventory

  • Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical
    fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into practice

  • Assist pharmacist in maintaining workflow

  • Responsible for general housekeeping and rotating stock, checking for
    expiration dates on a monthly basis.

  • Maintains current Florida pharmacy technician registration and certification.


  • Ability to type 25 WPM
  • High School level mathematics knowledge


  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent training and experience.

  • One year of experience in customer relations.

  • Computer literate.


  • Registered and certified technician in the state of Florida

  • Bilingual skills, Spanish/English preferred.
