New technicians are required to complete our extensive training program for Pharmacy Technicians and satisfy all registration, licensing and certification requirements according to your state's Board of Pharmacy guidelines.

  • As allowable in applicable states, certified and trained Pharmacy Technicians can expand on their clinical and managerial responsibilities, including administering vaccinations.

Physical Demands

  • Standing / walking for an extended period of time.

  • Near vision; ability to see details at close range to perform activities such as: transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts

  • Wrist / finger speed; ability to make fast, simple, repetitive movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • Ability to push and pull objects, including drawers and other items of similar weight, as well as reaching overhead.

  • Ability to handle and work with small instruments and objects.

  • Bending/squatting/leaning to a considerable degree and requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

  • Is able to load and unload trays/cases/totes (30 pound maximum to a height of 4 feet).

  • Auditory attention; ability to focus on a single source of sound in the presence of other distracting sounds.

  • Effective verbal communication; expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word, especially when detailed or important instructions must be conveyed accurately.

  • Ability to move quickly from one task to another according to the needs of the pharmacy.

  • The ability to concentrate on a task for significant periods of time.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age

  • Licensure requirements vary by state. Learn more by visiting your state's Board of Pharmacy website or asking the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

  • Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

  • National Certification from an accredited pharmacy technician certification program approved by specific state regulations (e.g. PTCB, ExCPT, etc.).

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).

The pharmacy is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm, Saturday/Sunday from 10:00am-5:00pm. As a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) Outpatient Pharmacy Manager, you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs with assistance from a full support team. Facility: Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC), community owned and managed, is the largest full-service, acute-care medical center in the nine-parish area of Acadiana. This facility staffs 342 beds with an average daily census of roughly 300 patients. LGMC is Joint Commission accredited and boasts a Center of Excellence in Breast Imaging, has an Accredited Cancer Center, an accredited Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program and is an Advanced Certified Primary Stroke Center, and is a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center in Maternity Care and in Bariatrics, located in the heart of Lafayette. Services include a 34-bed adult intensive care unit (ICU) is staffed 24/7 by intensivists (physicians specializing in critical care), and a 31-bed neonatal intensive care unit. The centralized pharmacy is open and provides pharmacy services 24/7. CPS has partnered with the hospital to manage the day to day operations of the pharmacy. Required Qualifications: * BS or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy * Current LA pharmacist license in good standing or ability to obtain one quickly * Management experience in a healthcare/hospital environment or retail setting * Ability to solve problems, establish trust and credibility. * Demonstrated teaching, relevant professional publications and involvement with Professional organizations. * Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, respond to client concerns and work cooperatively with other staff.
