Due to our exceptional growth and success, we are seeking a Pharmacy Technician - Clinical Process to join our team.

SUMMARY

Responsible for overall coordination and processing of patient medication orders, to include order intake within regulatory boundaries, patient services coordination, and Pharmacy Technician duties as defined by policy and regulation and while under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Enters new prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system where permitted by state pharmacy regulation, and under the direct supervision the Pharmacist after their review of the prescription and in accordance with Company policy and procedure.

  • Processes prescription refills, to include:

  • refill confirmation when appropriate;

  • review of pending refills with the supervising Pharmacist;

  • generate the refill documentation;

  • adjudicate medication based pharmacy claims when appropriate.

  • Generates delivery and equipment pick-up tickets.

  • Communicates as necessary with patients to identify general health status, medication compliance, drug and supply inventory, and provide overall coordination of care and service (custom assessment in CPR+).

  • Gathers, organizes, documents (in CPR+ and electronic medical record), and reports clinical data for review and action by the patient care team (Pharmacist, Nurse, prescriber) to include:

  • lab data;

  • results of patient contact documented on the custom assessment;

  • hospitalizations;

  • follow-up appointments.

  • Generates pharmacy and clinical reports from CPR+ as directed.

  • Assists in coordination of patient assessment, drug compounding, and delivery to meet lead time and delivery deadlines.

  • Coordinates with warehouse and pharmacy team to ensure all medications needed are available for patient care.

  • Attends patient care meetings and provide information status reports.

  • Assists in the prioritization and the progress of patient paperwork through the patient care pathway.

  • Tracks controlled substance prescriptions requiring prescriber signature using CPR+.

  • Assists in maintaining the accuracy of CPR+ branch specific supply templates.

  • Capable of sterile compounding according to Company policy.

  • Performs the Pharmacy Technician duties considered acceptable by state pharmacy regulations under supervision of a licensed registered Pharmacist.

  • Completes all necessary paperwork, forms, and records according to policy.

  • Maintains solid knowledge of, and complies with, Company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma;

  • Meets all state requirements, which may be registration, licensure or certification

  • Minimum of two (2) or more years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from referral sources, managers, patients, employees, payors and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as pharmaceutical calculations, discounts, percentages, and volume. Ability to read and interpret compounding, inventory, and delivery documents.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of abstract variables.

SUMMARY Performs the duties of a Pharmacist working in an infusion pharmacy in compliance with policy and state regulations. Acts as supervising Pharmacist when the Pharmacy Manager is not present in the pharmacy. Works in cooperation with all other branch departments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. * Has solid knowledge of and guarantees compliance with: state and federal regulations, accrediting body standards, Company policies and procedures, and standards of performance. * Maintains sterile compounding and clinical competency in compliance to policy and sufficient to meet pharmacy standards for patient safety and effective therapy; compounds, dispenses and performs clinical activities to these standards. * Supervises pharmacy support personnel, which includes activities performed, work allocation between staff, and work performance (quality and quantity of work). * Delegates aspects of the practice of pharmacy to a Pharmacy Intern or Pharmacy Technician within the parameters of their job description. * Provides direct supervision to Pharmacy Interns and Pharmacy Technicians working with the Pharmacist. Direct supervision means that the supervising Pharmacist has reviewed the prescription or drug order prior to its being dispensed, has verified the final product, and is immediately available on the premises to direct the work of Interns and Technicians and respond to questions or problems. * Implements policy and regulatory required record systems and processes for the pharmacy. * Maintains compliance to the BioScrip formulary. * Practices the concept of clean claims through compliance to proper pharmacy billing procedures. * Works with supervisory staff to continually develop and implement ideas for delivering high quality, cost-effective services. * Participates in the pharmacy on-call rotation. * Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists with supervision of Pharmacy Interns, Technicians, and other support staff. Previous IV/home infusion therapy experience is preferred. Knowledge of CPR+ software is a plus.
