I. Job Summary:
Under the direction and direct supervision of the pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician participates in pharmaceutical care by assisting the pharmacist in drug preparation, drug distribution, purchasing and inventory control, drug packaging, and drug delivery.

5.Drug Distribution Fills new orders and prepares patient education information. Fills unit dose cassettes. Enters data into the computerized pharmacy system or on to the

pharmacy medication profile; run appropriate lists and labels. Delivers medications and picks up medication orders, discontinued or expired medications. Maintains inpatient and outpatient dispensing areas. Prepares and maintains applicable records including: temperature logs, quality control logs, narcotic distribution sheets, and packaging records.
6.Sterile Products Prepares IV admixtures, irrigations and parenteral nutrition. Maintains sterile preparation area. Prepares IV labels. Updates computer scheduling of intravenous fluids and piggybacks.
7.Packaging Prepares extemporaneous packaging of oral solids and liquids; labels and records in packaging log.
8.Purchasing and Inventory Control Maintains proper drug inventory levels; orders appropriate quantities. Prepares purchase requisitions. Maintains price updates. Uses computerized ordering system accurately.
9.Billing Replaces and charges all floor stock charges, CSAR's; places credits for returned IV's, IVPB's and medications. Charges/credits for items on fill lists and catch-up lists.

IV. Training and Experience:
Mandatory:
1.Registration as a pharmacy technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred:
1.1 year hospital Pharmacy Technician experience
V. Physical Requirements:
1.Standing and walking 80% of time; sitting 20% of time.
2.Lifting and carrying of supplies up to 24 pounds.
3.Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity necessary for typing and computer order entry.
