Assists in dispensing and billing functions in the unit-dose drug distribution program.
Unit-dose carts are accurately filled from current patient profiles. Technicians promptly and accurately deliver medications to hospital inpatient units and medication charges are processed by using the computer system.
When requested, medication orders are accurately and promptly entered and charged using the computer system. Original orders are accurately filed and appropriate records and inventories are maintained as required. Technicians assist pharmacist in compounding and dispensing medicinals of a special nature that are not readily available from the manufacturers.
Assists in dispensing functions in the centralized intravenous admixture program.
Technicians assist pharmacists in the aseptic preparation of total parenteral nutrition solutions, injectable chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other medications for parenteral therapy.
Small and large volume solutions are aseptically prepared and labeled in a prompt manner.
After the pharmacist checks a completed admixture, Pharmacy Technicians promptly deliver the admixtures to the appropriate nursing units.
When requested physician medication orders are efficiently entered into the computer system for accurate label, profile, and charge generation subject to in process review by the designated pharmacist.
Assists in dispensing functions in the Outpatient Pharmacy area.
Prescriptions are accurately and efficiently processed for discharge, PACU, CTU, outpatient clinics and employee patients.
Prescriptions are promptly read and appropriate information is entered into the computer system to generate accurate prescription labels, profiles, and charges.
Prescriptions records, patient profiles, completed prescription medications, and stock medications are promptly and accurately delivered and filed.
Distributes and monitors medications in automated dispensing machines.
Accurately and efficiently delivers floor stock and individual patient medications and IV's to and from inpatient units.
Insures automated dispensing machines are accurately refilled and appropriate stock maintained.
Departments, clinics, inpatient units and patients are accurately charged and credited for medications used.
Appropriate records of charges and credits are accurately maintained and filed.
Assists pharmacist in the receipt, checking, pricing, stocking and rotation of all orders from wholesalers and manufacturers and in the organization of outdated or overstocked medications for return to destruction.
Answers telephones, receiving and relaying messages as appropriate.
Maintains a neat, clean dust free, orderly well-stocked and appropriately rotated work area in the unit-dose, intravenous admixture, chemotherapy, refrigerator, floor stock, and Outpatient Pharmacy areas.
Performs all other job related duties as assigned by supervise
