The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in the daily activities of the pharmacy.
Prepares, dispenses, and delivers pharmaceuticals and other supplies.
Prepares intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition solutions, cancer chemotherapy medications, enters
medication orders and maintains patient profiles, and assists the pharmacist in clinical duties, medication dispensing
and order filling.
Follows department policy and procedure for preparing and dispensing pharmaceuticals under the direct supervision
of a licensed pharmacist.
Develops and maintains pharmacy information system order entry and report generation skills. Reviews medication
inventory, places vendor orders, receives medications, and processes paperwork.
Delivers, picks up, and debits/credits pharmacy items from nursing areas.
Maintains complete and accurate patient records. Performs clinical pharmacy support services and interventions.
Provides service excellence to the customers of the organization by delivering timely, high quality care in a courteous
and respectful manner.
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of technician capability
High school diploma required.
Successful completion of a pharmacy technician training course required.
Minimum Work Experience
One year of relevant hospital pharmacy technician experience, or two years of retail pharmacy experience is
preferred.
Required Licenses:
Pharmacy Technician
Current Pharmacy Technician license to practice in the state.
