JOB SUMMARY

Maintains pharmacy and nutrition billing systems to ensure the completeness and accuracy for pharmacy and nutrition charges.

EXPERIENCE*

  • 1 year of experience in pharmacy and/or accounting/bookkeeping

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Studies

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Intermediate computer operation skills, including system management skills and proficient in Microsoft Office

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Performs billing and daily charge reconciliation to ensure that all pharmacy charges are posted to patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Assists with the 340b program by performing daily file reconciliations, monitoring/validating compliance, and further optimizing medication usage and savings opportunities.

  • Serves as a technical and billing resource for all clinical system users, Information Services & Technology, and Patient Accounts.

  • Assists with the development and implementation of short- and long-range goals for the Pharmacy and Nutrition department's information system needs.

  • Participates in the achievement of the organizational and departmental goals and mission.

  • Maintains professional development and technical competency.

  • Performs all other related tasks to assist the Pharmacy Information Systems Coordinator.

SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES*

Safety: Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.

Compliance: Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process. Maintains records of compliance activities and reports compliance activities to the Compliance Office.

EDUCATION * High school diploma or equivalent CERTIFICATION SUMMARY * No professional certifications required EXPERIENCE* * One year of experience in inventory control, materials management, or purchasing * One year of experience in inventory control computer system and data entry PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* * Experience in a healthcare setting * Proficient in Microsoft Word and/or Excel KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES* * Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills * Must be able to function effectively under stressful conditions JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* * Follows established processes to maintain adequate levels of supplies while minimizing outages and overstocks using available tools to complete activities. * Runs daily order replenishment report. * Receives in-transit items and issues items in and out to match stock on hand. * Researches products and provides substitution suggestions. * Transfers inventory urgently between locations as needed. * Performs location uploads quality checks. * Assists with product recalls. * Maintains accurate files and data on all materials purchased. * Assists with continual preparation for annual inventory. * Completes monthly check of expiration dates. * Maintains accurate shelf labeling. * Reduces variances and prepares assigned service line for daily, monthly, and annual cycle counts. * Assists with flexible scope and instrument repair program. * Fosters positive working relationships across departments and campuses with patients, physicians, families, visitors, coworkers, and vendors. * Answers telephones in a courteous, helpful manner. * Complies with all applicable regulations, standards, and recommendations, and follows hospital and departmental safety instructions, policies, and procedures. * Attends 80% of staff meetings/communication and job-related educational opportunities.
