Schedule will include 25% variable shift staff pharmacist rotation to meet department needs including evenings, weekends, holidays, vacations and FMLA.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager reports to the Director of Pharmacy Services. Assists the Director of Pharmacy in preparing and conducting meetings including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Infection Control, Medication Safety, Diversion and other routinely scheduled interdisciplinary committees. Ensures the Pharmacy is in good standing with all regulatory compliance standards as required by Florida Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, FDA, DEA, CMS etc.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for the daily core pharmacy operations and supervision of the department staff. Daily management includes but is not limited to supervising all department personnel (pharmacist, coordinator, buyer, analyst, technician, intern, student), overseeing distribution workflow, overseeing clinical workflow, overseeing compounding (USP 795, 797, 800) and assisting in administrative workflow (payroll, charging, buying, human resource issues, quality improvement processes, data assessment, etc.).
The Pharmacy Operations Manager will assist in developing and maintaining department processes, procedures, and policies. The manager will facilitate pharmacy team members to perform at a high-level of performance consistent with the mission/goals/objectives of the organization and department. The manager works with team members to establish individual and team SMART goals on a quarterly basis. Team member goals revolve around the core pharmaceutical issues pertinent to day-to-day operations.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager maintains files documenting employee education, training, and work performance. Helps direct employees to develop appropriate objectives that benefit the department, as well as promotes employee growth and personal development. In coordination with the Director will counsel employees in areas of substandard performance, initiates corrective action as necessary in accordance with the policies of the hospital, completes annual manager performance evaluations for supervised employees in accordance with the evaluation timetable, and meets with supervised employees at least twice each year to discuss performance.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager must demonstrate the ability to relate to coworkers in a professional and respectful manner, in order to assure and promote a culture of safety and collaboration. Adjusts staffing within assigned budget guidelines according to volume, services, and trends of workload. Interviews new employees, orients employee to hospital and department, arranges training in unit dose, intravenous admixture, unit based pharmacy operations, and chemotherapy.
Pending projects include house wide EMR system change, expansion of floor stock equipment, smart pumps, chemotherapy infusion pharmacy.
Must have Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
Minimum 5 years experience including 2 years of recent hospital practice
Must be current Registered Pharmacist in the state of Florida and will obtain the Florida Consultant Pharmacist License within 12 months of start date
