Position Summary: The pharmacy manager is responsible for providing accurate, efficient, and culturally appropriate pharmacy services; ensuring on-going compliance with all pertinent rules, laws, and regulations including those set by the State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, AAAHC, and HRSA's 340B program. The pharmacy manager is expected to possess or be able to develop their clinical skills with a goal of actively managing patients' medications.

Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: This position reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy and is a member of the Pharmacy team. This position has direct reports.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participates in and oversees the prescription filling process. Performs the final check before dispensing. Counsel patients on all new prescriptions.

  • Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with the laws, rules, and regulations that pertain to the practice of pharmacy.

  • Performs formulary substitutions and refill authorizations. Reviews patient charts and documents all prescribing activities in the EHR, consults with medical providers as needed. Performs additional clinical activities as assigned by the pharmacy and medical directors.

  • Provides prescription information to patients and clinic staff. Develops written education materials as assigned.

  • Assists patients in the clinic and over the phone; answers phone, helps patients at the front counter, cashiers on a backup basis.

  • Supervises pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, assistants, interns, externs, and residents.

  • Leads Quality Assurance processes, develops, implements, and monitors compliance for workflow procedures.

  • Actively participate in internal quality improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation standards, when assigned.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Background Qualifications

Required:

  • PharmD (preferred) or bachelor's in pharmacy

  • Valid certification/license as a registered pharmacist in the State of Washington.

  • Familiarity with health and social issues facing American Indians/Alaska Natives and a desire to promote the delivery of appropriate health services to this population.

  • Clinical knowledge of disease states common in community health; diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, MAT, mental health, etc.

  • Experience working in a clinical setting or under a prescriptive authority protocol.

  • Management or supervisory experience.

Work Environment: Pharmacy hours are 8am-6pm, Monday through Friday with occasional extra hours for events.
