A licensed practical nurse will be under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The employee's primary responsibility is on the hospital floor or in the emergency department accurately acquiring home medications for medication reconciliation, calling pharmacies, calling physicians, and providing discharge counseling discussing medications following medication review by a pharmacist. The employee should strive to function with the professionalism required to uphold the standards for his or her position, placing patient safety as the highest priority.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Valid AL LPN license.

• Must be licensed as a technician or intern with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy within six months of hire.

• Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.

• Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.

• Ability to effectively communicate with people throughout the organization.

• Ability to provide a positive customer service experience.

• Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.

• Ability to accurately type and perform assigned computer duties.

• Proficient in needed pharmaceutical calculations and the metric system.

• Appropriate interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to contact physician through paging system, Zipit messenger, or other necessary sources.

• Valid AL Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and licensed with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.
