PHARMACY OPERATIONS DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational/Strategic Management: Responsible for the overall direction of Inpatient Pharmacy practices at CCHMC, reporting directly to the Chief Pharmacy Officer.

Collaborate with departmental and organizational leadership on long-term and short-term planning. Supports the strategic priorities through targeted, innovative and responsive solutions. Serves as an organizational advocate and partner with business leaders.

Acts together with management as a champion for positive organizational culture and quality of work life. Identify and support community outreach. Ensure the department's operations align with the Medical Center strategic plan.

Collaborate with the Chief Pharmacy Officer and interdisciplinary Directors and Medical Directors to plan, implement and evaluate services. Promote both internal and external customer service through the development and implementation of programs and standards which reflect that goal. Monitor appropriateness and effectiveness of patient care through quality improvement programs. Collaborate with other department directors to ensure patient care needs are met.

Compliance: Responsible for the understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards for the Pharmacy practice.

Responsible for evaluation of Pharmacy for compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Identify best practices as well as deficiencies to share with peers and make recommendations for improvement. Participate in the development of corrective action plans to guide needed and sustainable improvements.

Ensure that compliance and readiness plans are current. Enhance relationships to promote interdisciplinary involvement and knowledge of compliance standards, status, and actions. Work with direct reports to insure that needed changes are made by the effective date of any change(s) in requirements.

Develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures that guide and support departmental operations and services. Responsible for interacting with state and national practice groups to keep CCHMC policies and procedure current with laws and guidelines.

Performance Management: Direct the development and monitoring of an effective staffing and retention strategy, including hiring and terminating employees, workforce planning, succession planning; attracting and retaining top performers.

Partner with leadership and Human Resources to develop effective and appropriate recruitment packages, and effective on-boarding programs for staff. Responsible for effective performance management of direct reports.

Operations: Direct and oversee all Inpatient Pharmacy activities.

In this role, the Pharmacy Operations Director is the expert in their profession at CCHMC. Develop and implement policies and procedures for improved utilization and operations; identify opportunities for improving cost through in-depth process and analysis and develop and offer recommendations to drive significant operational change; resolve issues directly, or in consultation with leadership concerning staffing, utilization of facilities, equipment and funds; develop and interpret policies and procedures for faculty and staff; and ensure that all policies are in conformance with Medical Center guidelines

Professional Development: As a leader in Pharmacy, represent the organization at major external and internal meetings, conferences and seminars and enhance the awareness of CCHMC's position as a national leader in the field of pediatric health care planning.

As an operational and clinical expert, model this knowledge in daily work and teach/coach others for their development. Develop knowledge and professional skills through cross training, literature and attendance at department meetings. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, collecting data and providing input to department discussions.

Coach and mentor personnel to enhance professional knowledge. Make job requirements and goals for each position clear to employees and assure sufficient training to achieve the desired level of competency.

Expected Starting Salary Range: 72.55 - 94.53

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy OR PharmD Degree

Pharmacist License in the state of Ohio

Master's degree

5 years of work experience in a related job discipline

At least 5 years in a leadership role or completion of a 2-year administrative residency

Preferred:

Pediatric experience
