Purpose:

Assumes responsibility for overseeing assigned pharmacy services. Facilitates the development, implementation, advancement, and maintenance of pharmacy services area of responsibility. Promotes desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost effective medication therapies. Serves as a resource to other Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and health care professionals, as well as addresses the learning needs of staff.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Ensures safe, optimal, cost-effective medication therapies for patients by integrating or developing policies, procedures, protocols, services and systems.

2.Provides drug information to medical and nursing staff, outside institutions, other healthcare professionals, and the general public as appropriate.

3.Directs the development, implementation, advancement, and maintenance of assigned Pharmacy services.

4.Assures adequate control and documentation for controlled substances.

5.Facilitates the development and implementation of treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways as approved by appropriate committees as applicable to role.

6.Facilitates the identification, resolution, implementation, and communication of cost-effective medication use issues in collaboration with medical staff.

7.Develops and implements financial strategies that ensure the continued growth and operational stability of pharmacy services as directed. This may include overseeing accounts receivable and monitoring price competitiveness.

8.Facilitates clinical and operational integration across the D-H pharmacy enterprise.

9.Contributes to the quality and effective operations of the department, identifies areas of opportunity for improved medication management activities to contain costs/ improve quality of care, identifies develops and reports on productivity and quality metrics for areas of responsibility, and participates and leads quality improvement activities.



  1. Perform all duties of a registered pharmacist in the state of NH including providing vaccinations approved for administration by the NH Board of Pharmacy (if applicable).

  2. Selects, counsels, prepares performance evaluations, and terminates according to policy.

  3. Ensures that new employees are oriented and adequately trained, and ongoing staff development. Ensures continual training regarding organization and departmental policies and procedures as well as changes in systems, equipment, software, etc. Actively participates and oversees any related student activities occurring (e.g. PharmD, residency). Reviews the performance and promotes development of staff.

  4. Creates and exemplifies service excellence culture.

  5. Serves on and leads Pharmacy-related committees and other Medical Center Committees as needed.

  6. Sustains professional competence and development (e.g. through work in area and participation in in-services, workshops, seminars, and professional organizations). Serves as a role model, mentor and coach to individual staff.

  7. Contributes to the strategic planning process by establishing both short and long-range goals for areas of responsibility.

  8. Assists Pharmacy Leadership in budget preparation, monitoring, and adherence.

  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of health care system experience (of which 3 must be pharmacy supervisory experience), or the equivalent preferred.

  • PharmD and/or advanced degree (e.g. MS, MBA) preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and possess the ability to set priorities and make critical decisions.

  • Managerial effectiveness, problem solving, and change management abilities desired.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated interpersonal and team skills essential.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of Pharmacy

  • Current unrestricted NH licensure (or eligible)

  • BLS Certification within 30 days of hire for Manager of Retail or Specialty Pharmacy. For Specialty Pharmacy, if employee is designated as a full-time remote employee working outside of the states of NH/VT and does not maintain immunization endorsement, BLS is not required.

  • Board Certification in Specialty Pharmacy (CSP) within 3 years of hire for Manager of Specialty Pharmacy.

VIEW JOBS 6/17/2022 12:00:00 AM 2022-09-15T00:00 This is Hybrid position Position Summary: Facilitates the continued development and fiscal management of D-H Clinical Operations division including improving existing operations and providing administrative support; supports clinical growth initiatives including affiliations, and service line expansions; and advises, consults and supports Clinical Financial Planning leadership in all strategic, clinical financial matters pertaining to Clinical Operations. Responsibilities: A listing of the key responsibilities * Oversees creation of accurate and timely Service Line (SL) reports/scorecards. Communicates financial and operational results to leadership. * Monitors operational statistics and assist SLs in maintaining staffing levels in accordance with established benchmarks. Oversees project cost analysis and cost benefits analyses with recommendations for program continuance, modification, or termination. * Understands and evaluates the financial performance of various medical specialties to maximize efficiencies, identify opportunities for improvement, make recommendations and oversee the development and implementation of midcourse correction tactics as necessary. * Designs and develops relevant periodic statistical and performance reports identifying changes/trends in faculty productivity metrics and SL KPIs (key performance indicators); making comparison with internal and external benchmarks and reports on the root causes of significant deviations. Planning/Operations: * Provides daily, weekly, and monthly information to support day-to-day operational management of Service Lines and Divisions. * Develops and defines metrics to monitor and improve performance of each SL by understanding relationships between data elements of various transactional systems (e.g., general ledger, clinical billing, payroll, cost accounting, budgeting). * Responsible for planning future growth by assessing program needs, establishing priorities and identifying fiscal and human resources needs for development. Supports the development and growth of revenue by identifying potential new sources of income as well as optimizing existing fee sources. * Assists in the development of operational and strategic plans with multi-year evaluation components; provides regular status reports to senior leadership on progress to plan. * Develops & maintains excellent relationships with internal leadership teams and external constituencies * Works with Service Line and Senior Leaders in managing programmatic investments and analyzing the impact of new recruits / new business lines. Facilitates the validation and development of business plans and pro-forma projections. * Prepares, in collaboration with leadership of Service Lines, the annual plan and monitors and reports on metrics of each area's progress against financial performance targets. * Manages the activities of the Clinical Financial Planning team, to provide consistent, high quality financial support to operating and administrative leadership. Supports the development of a team structure which builds reliable business decision support for the organization, including effective communication of analyses. Decision Support: * Works to ensure that all locations within the division operate under uniform and consistent reporting principles. Defines, studies, and normalizes data to ensure proper comparability between time periods and clinical delivery sites across the organization. * Works with D-H Analytics Institute to increase availability of actionable financial, operational, and clinical data required for decision making. * Maintains accuracy and data integrity of standard reports and reporting systems through audits and routine reviews of the information. * Establishes and directs procedures for acquiring, compiling and reporting accurate weekly and monthly key operating and financial statistics. Oversees regular Clinical Operations reporting protocols to ensure that all levels of management receive and understand their relevant data on a timely basis. * Trains and educates operational leaders on data definition and metrics most closely linked to positive financial performance. * Performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications: * Master's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field. * Five (5) years of financial planning/analysis and financial reporting experience in a Healthcare organization.
