Positions in this function consult with customers, members, patients, providers, internal departments and / or external third parties on any or all of the following: Consult with and coordinate initial set up and on - going treatment plan for specialty drug patients, including DURs, co - pay assistance, ancillary products, scheduling Pharmacist consults and / or RN visits, and liaison with provider offices on labs, refill orders and prior authorizations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Schedule pharmacist consultation appointments with members that participate in any of the clinical programs operationally supported by the Clinical Call Center

  • Document provider feedback in clinical database

  • Manage various incoming fax queues to ensure all provider feedback is appropriately captured

  • Report PHI related incidents in a timely manner and in accordance with HIPAA requirements

  • Document and store all returned mail based on standard operating procedures

  • Provide outstanding customer service to all inbound / outbound calls

  • Perform miscellaneous auxiliary functions essential to the efficient operation of the department

  • Collaborate in various department meetings and forums to enhance processes and share tips to increase workflow efficiency

  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing for projects that impact the Clinical Call Center

  • Other duties as assigned by Operations Team Manager

  • Review and advise on medications and treatment plans (based on review of medical case notes, medication list and lab results) to improve outcomes and avoid potential drug interactions

  • Discuss with patients life issues affecting medication adherence and provide advice on improving drug regimen compliance

  • Advise patients on alternate Rx fill strategies of retail versus mail order and options for financial assistance

  • May outreach to providers on suspected medication abuse situations

  • Review medication regimen for disease state for LTC facilities / hospice care / RN case managers / Medical Directors / clients and provide summaries and guidance on future medication plans. Advice may include alternate drug therapies, stopping a medication and/or lower cost alternative

  • Review medical case notes to determine on - going medication treatment plan and project future medication costs

  • Extensive work experience within own function

  • Work is frequently completed without established procedures

  • Works independently

  • May act as a resource for others

  • May coordinate others' activities

  • Requires current pharmacy technician state license or national certification without restrictions based on regulatory requirements of worksite

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

  • Ability to work regularly scheduled shifts within our hours of operation Monday - Friday (8 AM - 8 PM) including the training period, where lunches and breaks are scheduled, with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule

  • 2 years of call center experience taking inbound and / or making outbound calls

  • Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications including ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system application

Preferred Qualifications:

  • State of Illinois Pharmacy Technician License

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification

  • 1 years of pharmacy related experience (includes retail pharmacy experience)

  • Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly motivated and self - directed

  • Ability to interact cross functionally within the organization

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
