What you will do:

Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating pharmacy operational objectives for partnering health systems. Gather data and develop quality metrics and reporting to provide financial insights that assist partners in their decision making process. The Pharmacy Business Analyst should also be responsible for establishing new operational workflows that improve efficiency and drive identified business initiatives.

Details on the role:

  • Build monthly income statements highlighting pharmacy activity;

  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly reports recording revenue, cost, and gross margin by disease state;

  • Assist business development identify new potential business opportunities;

  • Refine financial outlines provided to prospective hospital partners;

  • Assess, advise, and establish compliance processes in conjunction with each partnering health system;

  • Monitor monthly drug purchases for each pharmacy;

  • Assist in implementing split-billing software with our hospital partners wholly-owned pharmacies and/or contract pharmacies;

  • Provide monthly reports to hospital partners highlighting pharmacy activity leaving the hospital campus;

  • Monitor 340B Drug Program changes and assess its impact;

  • Responsible for identifying data and IT issues and flaws that could affect drug purchasing;

  • Develop processes with hospital partners to adhere to guidelines and requirements outlined by government regulatory authorities;

  • Learn to navigate hospital electronic medical record systems (e.g. Allscripts, Cerner);

  • Perform compliance audits of pharmacy claims to ensure there are no billing/cost discrepancies;

  • Complete reconciliation reports ensuring drug pricing within the pharmacy and various pharmacy systems are updated and accurate;

  • Assist in implementation of new hospital partner relationships;

  • Other duties as assigned;

What you need:

  • Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or health care related field

  • 1-3 years of experience

  • Pharmacy Technician background preferred

  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Whom we are looking for: We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented person with a keen analytical mind to provide a deep insight into the data obtained from hospital partners to the development team. You must be able to gather various healthcare related data and draw relationships between different pieces of information as well as find the limitations of the dataset. You should be able to communicate the results of the analysis in a form that helps the development team build or enhance the data analytics software. In addition, you should be able to diagnose inconsistencies between different data analytics reports and pinpoint the root cause of the discrepancies. You should also be able to provide input to the product team on new functionality to be developed and break it down into user stories that the development team can execute on. The ideal candidate will be able to simultaneously work on projects involving different hospital partners. Most importantly, we want someone who takes ownership of the work and enjoys delivering projects in a supportive close-knit team. What you will do: * Work closely with some of the largest health systems in the US, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and validity. * Collaborate with Shields' software engineering team to clean and load data into internal databases. * Analyze data feeds from hospital partners and provide reports that guide developers in updating the data analytics software to work with the data set. * Identify missing pieces of information, incomplete data models, and inconsistencies in data that can prevent the software engineering team from successfully processing the data. * Conduct manual verification of the results during the development process to ensure the accuracy of results produced by the software. * Act as a liaison between client IT team and Shields' software engineering team, using communication skills to identify, document, and validate data requirements. * Diagnose problems with reports produced from production data to identify the root cause of inaccurate or inconsistent reports. Provide guidance on how to fix the underlying issues. * Problem-solve with team-members to address potential data completeness or accuracy issues. * Analyze current business processes and propose improvements, including automation, in order to make the processes more effective. * Create user-oriented feature descriptions and user stories to deliver new functionality. * Improve systems by studying current practices and designing modifications and continue to drive efficiencies and process improvement. * Document observations and recommendations to increase productivity / efficiency. * Conduct User Acceptance Testing for projects, system fixes, and enhancements. * Ensure confidentiality, privacy, and security of patient data in compliance with HIPAA and HITRUST standards. * Expand knowledge of Shields and specialty pharmacy by participating in the educational opportunities we offer and reading professional publications.
