Pharmacy Technicians/Inpatient assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians/inpatient work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Procures, distributes, and restocks medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.

• Replenishes medications in automated dispensing units and emergency drug containers; rotates and manages stock before expiration date; generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.

• Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.

• Complies with sterile compounding regulations and practices.

• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Education

• High School diploma/equivalent.

• Certification and Licensure

• Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (NHA/PTCB). Must attain New York State licensure for Registered Pharmacy Technicians within the introductory period of hire.

• Must be able to work M-F, Sa/Su: 7:30am

• 4pm, or 7am

• 3:30pm

• Sa/Su: 2pm

• 10pm (rotating)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience

• 2-3 years pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required. Must be at least 18 years old.
