Pharmacy Assistant/Technician (In Patient)

Pharmacy Technicians/Inpatient assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians/inpatient work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Procures and distributes medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
Replenishes medications in automated dispensing units and emergency drug containers; rotates and manages stock before expiration date; generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately using appropriate techniques.
Complies with sterile compounding regulations and practices.
Repackages bulk medications in unit-dose packages safely and accurately per established procedures using appropriate techniques.
Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, storing and restocking medications and supplies in appropriate locations while maintaining records, pricing updates, and other required documentation accurately
Completes and documents all assigned medication storage areas inspections at least monthly; identifies and replaces outdated and unusable medications.
Required Skills and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years old
Demonstrates flexibility in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above
