DESCRIPTION Under direct supervision of the pharmacy supervisor, The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for the full range of patient pharmacy operational clerk duties, with the emphasis being on patient wellbeing, ability to obtain care, and increase the likelihood of medication access.

The role is responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities: Financial aid support reviews and reviewing and promoting patient improvement opportunities related to the facilitation of equitable access, referrals to UCSD and community resources. The Pharmacy Assistant will monitor, prioritize and ensure assigned work for the resolution of patient concerns, related to areas of medication access and other standard operations.

Outreach to community care organizations, both within and external to UCSD, will be necessary to achieve goals. The Outpatient Pharmacy Clerk will perform all actions required to resolve open requests and confirm that these are being addressed in a timely manner and in accordance with current departmental standards and performance metrics. This role will also be responsible to perform all necessary job-related activities for pharmacy operations, including:

Medication distribution/shipping, medication inventory management and other operational duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of Outpatient or Community Pharmacy experience or Community Advocacy Vendor ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state, and private health plans. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Demonstrated computer skills/ability to work between multiple systems during calls. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with departments, patients, and staff.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Customer service oriented and team focused. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Retail/Outpatient pharmacy experience.

Experience with Epic. Familiar with UCSD systems, policies, and procedures. Community volunteerism or community service.

Bilingual English/Spanish. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements. If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
