Hourly Pay Range: $50.00 - $60.00

Charter Oak Health Center is seeking employment of an Pharmacist who is eager to work in a diverse environment. This person must be friendly, a people's person and willing to educate patients on their medication orders, if needed. The tech must believe in the mission and vision of Charter Oak Health Center in order to deliver top customer service.
The Pharmacist position will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. The Pharmacist will also advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications and suggest formulary substitutions as needed.
The role is responsible for safe and efficient methods for coordination of established pharmacy policy concerning drug patient care and provides clinical drug information to meet the needs of the patient and health practitioners.
Essential Position Duties
1.Reviews and interprets physicians' orders for appropriateness relevant to other departments (e.g., drugs for diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests) to ensure that over doses or under doses have not been prescribed and that interactions, incompatibilities or toxic compounds will not result from the combination of medications.
2.Ensures that drugs are appropriately labeled, stored and utilized according to physicians' instructions.
3.Dispenses prescriptions to outpatients in accordance with health center policy and in conformance with regulations and laws dealing with the class of prescription; counsels patients about their medications and maintains an accurate, up-to-date patient profile.
4.Maintains necessary controls with respect to audited controlled drugs and supervises prepacking of drugs and control procedures.
5.Provides drug information such as dosing, compatibilities and formulary substitutes to physicians and other health care practitioners.
6.Monitors activity on these units, evaluates floor stock supply and ensures appropriateness of medication storage in conformance with regulatory agency and established policies.
7.Verifies the work performed by support personnel, which includes patient drug data entry, and unit-dose drug distribution.
8.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the profession by participating in organization memberships; by attending meetings, lectures, in-services and seminars; by reading journals; and by complying with National Standards of Continuing Education to maintain professional competency and proficiency.
