SUMMARY:

Supervises and/or assists in the preparation of medication for administration at EPH, including the maintenance of records to ensure they are provided in a manner to promote patient safety and adequate control and accountability of all drugs, in accordance with the policies and procedures and protocols of EPH and appropriate to meet the standards of the accrediting organization and all State law, rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Utilizes EPIC Pharmacy system accurately and safely, assisting staff and remote pharmacies

  • Participates in the development and maintenance of EPH's formulary to meet the needs of EPH patients

  • Participates in meetings as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy

  • Provides administration coverage for Director in his/her absence

  • Maintains confidentiality of patient/medical staff information

  • Communicates new product information to the medical staff, nursing staff and other personnel as may be required

  • Maintains that the quality and appropriateness of pharmaceutical services are monitored and evaluated in accordance with the standards of the JCAHO and federal and state laws and regulations

  • Participates in the initial orientation and subsequent in-service education, including the provision of appropriate incompatibility information of all personnel involved in the preparation or administration of medications

  • Provides drug monitoring services in keeping with the needs of EPH

  • Performs or otherwise initiates any other program or service necessary for the service, safety, education or professional provision for the pharmaceutical care of EPH's patients and staff

  • Assist in maintenance of Pyxis system

  • Mix IVs and chemotherapies per regulations and P&P's

  • Assists in tracking and investigating incidents and ADEs to review system and process improvement

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy

  • Previous experience in hospital pharmacy or home Infusion

  • License in good standing to practice Pharmacy in the State of Colorado

PAY RANGE:

$56.00-$76.16, depending on experience, plus a $5.50 PRN Differential per hour.
