Job Summary

Kentucky Children's Hospital - Provides Pharmaceutical Care to pediatric and obstetric patients in an inpatient hospital setting. Position is a mix of staffing and clinical components during evening hours.

Contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. Conducts pharmacokinetic monitoring, patient chart review, code/ECMO response and other clinical services as need. May precept PGY-2 pediatric specialty residents, PGY-1 pharmacy practice residents, and student pharmacists.

Reviews, interprets, and verifies written and electronic orders to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed for admitted patients. Provides direction and supervision of technical staff and pharmacy interns, and confirms the quality and accuracy of dispensed products. Maintains inventory and records of narcotics and other forms of drugs.

The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum salary for this position will now be $114,697/year. All pay rates will be based on candidate's experience.

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience

PharmD degree preferred. ASHP PGY1 residency and/or PGY2 specialty residency preferred.
