Responsibilities:

It is the responsibility of the clinical pharmacy specialist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to assigned areas of specialty through integrated drug distribution, clinical services, research, and teaching. A clinical pharmacy specialist will perform and document clinical interventions to demonstrate efficacious, cost-effective pharmaceutical care. Promotion of formulary medications through drug monographs, medication use evaluations, staff education, and research is required. TriStar Centennial Medical Center has the expectation that clinical pharmacy specialists will obtain and maintain board certification within two years of hire to ensure that the public receives the level of pharmacy services that will ultimately improve a patient's quality of life.

General Essential Functions:
1.Provides clinical service and drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists.
2.Provides clinical pharmacy services, promoting safe and rational use of medications to improve patient outcomes.
3.Coordinates the delivery of clinical pharmaceutical care to assigned areas.
4.Works closely with multidisciplinary team for a particular service, including daily rounds on ICU patients and documentation of rounds in the pharmacy clinical intervention module.
5.Assists in the training, education, and professional development of pharmacists, residents, students, technicians, nurses, and medical staff.
6.Develops appropriate, safe and cost-effective drug therapy protocol/policies.
7.Assists in medication formulary management and compliance.
8.Is compliant with required classes and vaccinations by CMC; i.e., Code of Conduct, influenza vaccine and TB skin tests.
9.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate will also serve as the Residency Program Director for the PGY-2 Cardiology Residency Program. Board-Certified Pharmacy Specialist with Added Qualifications in Cardiology preferred due to this role. Candidates working towards Added Qualifications will be considered as well.
1.Demonstrated experience with each of the required areas of expertise in responsibilities section.
2.Interpersonal skills and emphatic communication abilities to successfully interact in with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
3.Active Tennessee pharmacist license in good standing.
4.Successfully completed ASHP PGY2 residency and/or four years of equivalent clinical experience
5.Will obtain and maintain Certification in related area of specialty within 2 years, if not already certified (if the specific clinical specialty certification is not available at the time of hire then the certification must be obtained within two years of specialty certification testing availability)
6.Will obtain and maintain BLS and ACLS Certification within 1 year, if not already certified

The Clinical Team offers guidance and recommendations related to evidence-based practice and outcomes; provides expert consultation for pharmacotherapeutic, toxicology, and pharmacogenetics related questions both within Aegis and for external clients, primarily in healthcare specialties; develops and leads training for clients and team members related to healthcare, pharmacogenetic, and drug testing practices; collaborates with Marketing, Managed Care, Quality, and the Laboratory team to provide superior science and service; and conducts literature research for the Aegis team.
