SCHEDULE:40 hours, Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m., with flexibility to work weekends and holidays when needed
The Pest Management Technician performs inspections and small remediation services including installing glue traps and sealing small holds for Pine Street Inns 800,000 square foot portfolio of emergency shelter, supportive housing, food service and administrative offices.
Under the direction of the Administrator of Housekeeping, the Pest Management Technician will work with approved remediation vendors and participate in Health and Safety inspections in conjunction with the Administrator of Housekeeping.
Specific duties include inspecting each property for compliance to applicable safety codes around cleanliness, sanitation, and safety hazards, administering pest remediation services, assessing and following up on remediation work provided by approved vendors and ensure that all remediation work is done in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Massachusetts Drivers License in good standing and acceptable driving record
Minimum of three (3) years experience in pest management and remediation
Knowledge of pest management issues, including bed bugs
Demonstrated ability to build working relationships, set standards, schedule projects and procure needed resources
Knowledge of general building conditions and structural systems
Exceptional oral and written communication skills sufficient to provide clear and concise written reports and oral presentations
Ability to lift heavy objects (75 lbs.)
Ability to climb stairs and ladders
Ability to access all areas of all PSI buildings, including administrative offices, shelter, housing, warehouse and food services facilities
Ability to operate a two (2) person transit vehicle
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly
Ability to sit at a desk and computer terminal for long periods of time
Ability to work independently
Ability to prioritize and handle several projects at once
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to solve problems creatively while meeting deadlines
Ability to work with a diverse population
Outstanding interpersonal skills in order to successfully work with a multitude of employees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Complete daily work assignments received from the Admin of Housekeeping every morning, these will include inspection plans, work orders for congregate housing, scattered housing, food services, administrative and program areas for pest management.
Responds promptly and effectively to pest remediation concerns and requests.
Provides on-site engagement of pest remediation vendor technicians.
Coordinates through the Administrator of Housekeeping for appropriate bed bug inspections and treatments.
Submits inspection and remediation reports to the administrator of Housekeeping.
Recommends pest management protocol improvements.
Attends required Pine Street Inn staff meetings.
Meets regularly with the Facilities Team.
In rotation with other facilities staff, stays in communication through cell phone and beeper 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies. Travels to sites as necessary during hours not regularly scheduled in the event of an emergency. As appropriate, coordinates the response to the emergency.
Pine Street Inn operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Consequently, it will be necessary to work on weekends and holidays on occasion.
Performs other additional assignments or projects as requested/directed by supervisor.
