ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Schedules candidates for interviews and pre-employment examinations

Prepares and processes correspondence, personnel and payroll forms and documents

Performs a wide variety of administrative activities in support of the recruitment process and other HR processes

Calculates and submits employee payroll and personnel data for a department

Examples of Duties

UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION

Prepares lists, records information on forms, completes and processes standard forms, documents, and reports and corrects mistakes

Enters, codes, stores, edits and retrieves database records and files

Explains personnel and payroll procedures and computation techniques to answer questions and to resolve payroll problems

Provides information and processes forms for FMLA, worker's compensation claims, injured employees, and OSHA reports

Processes applications to continue the interviewing and hiring process

Contacts candidates, and prepares and mails correspondence to schedule employment interviews and pre-employment examinations

Prepares and processes requests and forms for employment verification and criminal records

Assists with employee orientation sessions

Responds to inquiries from applicants and employees, explains procedures and regulations, and provides information to the public

Compiles data, calculates numbers and totals, and prepares activity reports

Distributes time sheets for signatures, verifies hours worked from time sheets and submits payroll

Adheres to high standards of confidentiality of all information and assigned tasks

Processes monthly reports, record keeping, and filing

Provides backup assistance in payroll, FMLA, and worker?s compensation claims

Meets established deadlines and sets priorities

Performs related work

Minimum Requirements

Associate's degree

Business Administration

Education

Humanities

Industrial Relations

Marketing

Political Science

Public Administration

Social Science

Related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Two years of employment application processing, payroll processing or human resources experience

EQUIVALENCY

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test

Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening

Must not have been convicted of a felony

Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Corrections or with youth in the care, custody or supervision of the Youth Detention Services

must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
