Personnel Security Specialist

Job Purpose:The Personnel Security Specialist, or equivalent, will assist the Human Resources Section, Administrative Division with pre-employment security investigations, adjudications, and other related security duties.Responsibilities:

• Serve as a liaison with EOUSA and DOJ Security Program Staff (SPS) for personnel security matters.
• Evaluate personnel background investigations for applicants and contractors.
• Resolve complex personnel security problems and unique situations.
• Analyze and recommend policy guidance and procedural modifications.
• Conduct personnel security adjudicative interviews.
• Ensure clearance levels and foreign traveler requirements.
• Manage security access and credentials requests.
• Initiate, receive, and review employment security clearance requests.
• Identify and resolve complex derogatory information/issues.
• Review security forms for completeness and accuracy.
• Pass visit certificates for outside and overseas agencies.
• Initiate security processes for maintenance and engineering contractors.
• Review contractor security packages for accuracy and issues.
• Process fingerprinting and “Name Checks” requests.
• Assemble security request packages in the appropriate format.
• Determine adequacy and completeness of security forms.
• Conduct pre-employment inquiries of previous employers.
• Maintain and update the personnel security database.
• Process new applicants and contractors using e-Qip.
• Coordinate drug-testing procedures for applicants and employees in designated positions (5%).

 Education and Experience:

• High school diploma is required, undergraduate degree preferred
• At least one year of administrative experience
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Good organizational skill
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and dependable vehicle
• U.S. Citizenship
• Ability to pass a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)
