Pay Class: Part-Time

Shifts: Clients' Need-based: Early mornings, Evenings, Weekends

Rate: $20.00

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.

Position Purpose: Develop and conduct personal training sessions for YMCA members.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct personal training sessions and fitness assessments as scheduled and aid in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous, and professional manner.

• Communicate with current and potential personal training clients in a timely fashion.

• Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine guidelines for screening personal training clients.

• Report to scheduled sessions on time and be available to aid.

• Ensure that proper exercise techniques are utilized by all members.

• Report any mechanical or breakdown problems immediately to supervisor and document on maintenance log book.

• Encourage members to wipe down vinyl seating of strength and cardiovascular equipment and benches after use during orientation and training sessions as well as general use.

• Solicit members to participate in personal training program.

• Promote a healthy lifestyle.

• Understand, follow and enforce all wellness center and staff policies.

• Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.

• Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic and advanced exercise principles required

• Strong interest in health and fitness; work towards a bachelor's degree in exercise science or health-related preferred

• Possess and maintain a personal training certification from a nationally accredited association. Approved organizations/certifications: AAI (Personal Fitness Certified Trainer), AFPA (CPT), IFPA (APF)

• Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and training within 90 days of hire
