Position Summary
The successful candidate for University Counselor will serve as a member of a team of mental health professionals, who provide direct and indirect clinical services to the University community. This is a 10-month position, beginning on or about August 15th through June 15th of each academic year.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Individual screening/assessment/referral.
Individual counseling.
Group counseling as determined by needs of the university.
Provide training workshop as requested, including programs for RHDs and RAs.
Participate in on-call rotation.
Engage in outreach opportunities.
Staying clinically up to date by attending continuing education workshops and conferences.
Develop treatment plans.
Keep updated case notes consistent with the counseling center policy.
Engage in supervision.
Work as part of a treatment team.
Attend University functions/specific events/meetings.
If licensed, supervise master's level trainee(s)
Attend all center staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
Master's degree in clinical mental health counseling or closely related discipline required.
Current state license or ability to obtain within a two-year period from date of employment.
Experience working on a college campus preferred.
Ability to relate to college students.
Possess awareness of multicultural and diversity issues and cultural humility.
Abilities and attributes that enable effective representation of mental health issues in the university setting.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Unusual Working Conditions
Some weekend and evening hours, specifically in an on-call rotation.
