Hartford HealthCare Independence at Home has a number of Nursing Assistant positions available. We are seeking Nursing Assistants dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care and assistance to clients in their homes.

Nursing Assistants provide a variety of healthcare and general wellness duties to client's who rely on our care. These duties may include personal hygiene and grooming care; Assistance with toileting, ambulation, etc.; Providing meals for clients' nutritional needs; Reporting changes in clients' condition to supervisor, or client care coordinator; Performing routine housekeeping and home management duties; Recording each client's care on care plan and submitting care plan in a timely manner; Assisting with providing emotional support for the clients and their families; Assisting with routine therapy exercises; Participating in case conferences as requested; Attends all required in-service education sessions.

We also have each caregiver complete a daily online health screening, including temperature checks, prior to entering a home for work shift. We also complete health screenings with potential clients during the intake call and again prior into going to the home for a case opening.

Minimum of one year work experience as a PCA preferably in home care, or in a hospital or facility; Good housekeeping and home management skills; Good communication skills and a helpful attitude.

Candidates must have CURRENT and VALID Driver's License in good standing along with reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance.

The Emergency Department at Windham provides patients with high levels of care, with symptoms ranging from traumas to the common cold to drug overdoses and everything in between. Our multi-disciplinary team includes Registered Nurses, Advanced Providers, Nursing Assistants, and administrative staff. The Emergency Department at Windham is equipped with 23 beds, including a fast-track area, and behavioral health space. Our RNs see a wide variety of patients, including those with behavioral health and opioid related needs. Position Summary Under the direct supervision of an RN or his/her designee, the Patient Care Technician will assist the RN and MD in providing direct care to patients according to age specific needs. Patient types include: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, older adult Accurately measures and records vital signs, including postural vital signs, reports changes to the RN as soon as discovered. Assists patients with ADL's including bathing, back care, hair washing and documents accordingly. Performs and documents Blood Glucose. Reports all findings to RN Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent Experience: Certified Nurses Aid certificate, Nursing Student, EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or EMT -P (Paramedic) with clinical experience required. One year pre-hospital or acute experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills preferred. Knowledge of arrhythmia detection and phlebotomy preferred.
