Assist a student in self-sufficiency, communication, interpersonal, social, academic and mobility skills. Assist student with balance, following directions, fine and/or gross motor activities, assist student on/off the van, prompts to stay focused, complex support needs, etc.
HS diploma/GED, required
Experience with students with autism, strongly preferred
Willingness to obtain required additional training
Must obtain "qualified" status within one (1) year from date of hire.
"Qualified" means having an associate's degree or higher; or having completed 2 years of post secondary study; or meeting a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a state or local assessment (CAPE test or Certificate of Competency). All paraprofessionals must also complete twenty (20) hours of professional development related to their assignment each school year in order to continue employment. All Personal Care Assistants must hold or obtain First Aid/CPR certification and keep same current.
Terms of Employment
Full-time, 188 days
ESPA pay scale, minimum $13.01/hour
This position is temporary through the end of the 2018-19 school year with the possibility of continued employment.
