What we are looking for:
ODF is looking for a Permanent Forest Officer to provide leadership for the seasonal workforce and serve as an advanced initial attack Incident Commander and function at a higher ICS level on more complex incidents. These goals and related duties are in the areas of:
Relief duty officer and provides operational oversight during supervisor's absence.
Responsible for the administration and enforcement of Oregon's fire prevention statutes and rules.
Serve as the primary operator of the assigned engine, is responsible for engine/crew readiness and leading an assigned crew or crews.
Coordinate and/or perform physical labor necessary to suppress and extinguish wildfire.
Duties include detection, pre-suppression, prevention, and suppression.
Perform routine building and ground maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) years in wildland fire suppression
OR
Bachelor's degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field and one (1) year of wildland fire suppression.
Required
Qualified as Engine Boss Single Resource (ENGB) prior to appointment
Note:
Successful applicants must take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level.
Must obtain the Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.

Preference will be given for Initial Attack Incident Commander (ICT4) and Task Force Leader (TFLD) qualifications
Working towards Fire Warden Class A
Ability to perform in high stress, fast paced emergency situations.
Experience with equipment operations such as: heavy and light equipment, heavy and light trucks, motor graders, snowplows, road sweepers.
Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Proficient in initial attack
Experience enforcing forestry laws, rules, and regulations to the public.
Skills in building/maintaining relationships with customers, stakeholders, and the public.
Knowledge and skills in Oregon Forest Law administration.
Experience providing leadership and training.
