Whole Foods Market is looking for an experienced inventory management and supply chain expert to join our growing Perishable In-Stock Team. This role will partner with our Perishable In-Stock Managers, Perishable Purchasing and Merchandising teams, Logistics, Enterprise Data and Analytics partners, and other stakeholders as needed to provide support and direction to improve our overall in-stock operations. This role will be responsible for managing class and item level forecasting in addition to reporting and analysis including (but not limited to): in-stock/out of stock trends, out of stock root cause, sales and shrink performance of core items, and distribution center/inventory management. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize strong analytical skills and knowledge of perishable supply chains to drive continuous improvement of the in-stock program through collaborative effort and creativity.
This position is located in Austin, TX and reports to the Perishable In-Stock Analytics Team Leader.
Manage perishable category, class, and item level forecasts at the global, regional, and store level
Calculate and manage effective target inventory positions (TIP) to maximize store in-stock rate and minimize shrink
Work with Perishable In-Stock and Enterprise Data teams to develop tools and processes to support the management of system generated forecasts - including the incorporation of promotional and seasonal impact, troubleshooting of anomalies, identifying root causes, and solutioning fixes
Partner with Perishable Category Management teams to maintain understanding of merchandising strategy, assortment changes, and manage new item forecasts appropriately
Provide the Perishable In-Stock Team with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and insights to support the tracking and advancement of team initiatives
Identify opportunities and recommend/implement improvements to tools, processes, and workflows that affect purchasing, merchandising, and in-stock position
Maintain a thorough understanding of WFM retail and purchasing data - including tools and best practices for mining, analyzing, and leveraging complex sets of data to drive business decisions
Additional product forecasting and/or reporting and tools development for our global, regional, and store teams as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business with Analytics Specialty, or commensurate experience preferred
4 years experience in retail, purchasing, or supply chain analytics/data management preferred
Ability to manage, manipulate, and derive insights from large sets of complex and disparate data
Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications required
Prior experience with SQL, Alteryx, and/or Tableau preferred
Working knowledge of product forecasting and applicable tools and methodologies preferred
Comfort with and ability to learn new reporting, database, and automation systems
Self-motivated, innovative thinker willing to work in a dynamic and evolving environment
Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening
Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistently meet timelines
Analytical curiosity, ability to think creatively and solve problems with sound business judgement
Strong organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize effectively
Positive attitude and flexibility to work effectively both individually and with cross-functional teams
Nuanced understanding of the WFM business, supply chain, retail and purchasing data, and Global Perishables team preferred
Ability to assess how products, processes, and operating models impact the overall business
Ability to travel when necessary
