Summary: Provides indirect patient care in Surgical Services by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:
The Surgical/ENDO Tech prepares the room and gathers supplies needed for surgical/endoscopy procedures; delivers instruments to the surgeon and other members of the surgical team. May function as second assistant to the surgeon; assists in the proper decontamination of the room, supplies and instruments post operatively/procedurally.
Works to tech ENDO cases assisting surgeons with procedural cases, collecting specimens and trouble shooting equipment as needed. Is trained to decontaminate ENDO scopes and store properly.
Assists with turnover of all rooms.
Assists with patient transport.
During critical situations, may act as liaison between family and Surgery staff.
Other duties may be assigned:
Assist in SPD with as trained
Notifies departments and representatives of surgical department needs working with the Clinical Lead/designee.
Learning Administrative needs for department as needed

Education and/or Experience: Associates in Applied Science with ST focus or Military training in scrubbing required.
Surgical Technologist certification preferred. Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant experience preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to managers, physicians, employees, patients, families and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Excellent PC skills required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current CPR certification
Age Specific Competencies: Knowledge and application of growth and development principles; utilization of effective communication strategies; implementation of specific technical factors.
