General Summary The Perioperative Services Manager combines the knowledge base of the nursing process with management skills, to make decisions independently in compliance with hospital policy, procedures, and protocols. Essential Duties and Responsibilities# Participates in planning and maintenance of surgical services budget.

Tracks and facilitates daily OR efficiencies, including quality improvement initiatives. Delegates, analyzes and evaluates surgical services to improve nursing care. Ensures staff compliance with set plans for state, federal, Joint Commission, and specialty licensing/accreditation regulations and standards.

Supervises care and cleanliness of equipment and supplies to ensure good working condition. Ensures compliance with daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance logs, cleaning logs, and compliance checks as necessary. Performs service recovery as needed.

Follows-up on all patient care concerns in a professional manner.

Communicates professionally with nursing and physician staff members to enhance patient care outcomes. Communicates unit needs to the director.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality ensuring proper policies and procedures are followed. Reports changes of any type to Surgical Services staff and reports changes to departments affected by changes. Documents accurately and efficiently all patient care activities and required quality monitoring items to support the achievement of compliance with established quality measures.

Monitors documentation of staff as assigned to contribute to compliance with quality goals. Completes all required department specific paperwork such as daily sheets, staffing logs, etc. Delegates appropriately to team members while maintaining an atmosphere fostering team work and accountability.

Demonstrates understanding of the dynamics of health care, adapting to change in a positive and professional manner in an attempt to support the hospital mission, vision, and values. Incorporates critical thinking into his/her nursing practice and attempts to develop skills and abilities through continued education and various educational opportunities. Develops daily, monthly, and call schedules for staff to match department needs.

Completes evaluations and submits two weeks prior to review. New employees are given checklists, oriented, and evaluated at the end of 90 days. Directs actions toward supervision of nursing care given to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within surgical services according to nursing standards.

Job Qualifications Education Bachelor#s Degree preferred. Work Experience Minimum of one year of experience in the functions of the department (or similar department) Certification/License RN License in Missouri or Compact State required. American Heart Association BLS required.

ASPAN member. CPAN or CAPA (or equivalent) certification within one year of assuming role. Mental/Physical Requirements Considerable mental concentration for sustained periods of time with attention to detail of paramount of importance.

Pressures of time, accuracy, and interruptions.

Must handle confidential material. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stooping.

Vision and hearing must be good.

Must have finger dexterity and complete use of hands and arms. Computer proficiency required.

Must have excellent customer service skills and patience in dealing with difficult situations. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious disease and hostile persons at times. Frequent exposure to communicable disease via blood and other body fluids. Minimal physical discomfort.
