This Perioperative Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Dedicating approximately 50% of time to supporting the technical aspects our Perioperative EMR, Cerner SurgiNet. This will include application configuration, interfaces, billing, and becoming familiar with the data model for reporting purposes.

  • Representing the EHR Project team in the execution of our project portfolio, serving the broader hospital. This encompasses a wide variety of applications that are aimed at meeting the needs of Clinicians, Patients, and Patient Families.

  • Teamwork is a key component to success in this role. This entails consulting with team members, and the clinical community, to match users' needs to the capabilities of our software.

  • Taking the lead on issue resolution: This involves using your skills and resources to identify the root cause of a problem and/or the responsible party for additional troubleshooting.

  • Clearly articulating and presenting solutions to colleagues and customers in the user community.

To qualify you must have:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • The ability to manage relationships with a wide range of customers.

  • A background in Health Care Information Technology with demonstrated success.

  • 3-5 years in a related field.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience with perioperative IT systems is preferred.

  • Cerner experience is preferred

  • Experience with SQL, CCL and/or Unix is preferred.

This Billing Coordinator II will be responsible for: * Reviewing surgical documentation to review appropriate charge capture of billable items for operating room cases across the enterprise. * Reconciling billing of all surgical activity including review of documented durations. * Initiating dialogue with nursing staff on identified issues and following up for a resolution. * Documenting distribution of private health information to outside parties and mailing implant records to manufacturers. * Collaborating with Patient Financial Services for all questions related to a billing audit or process improvement. * Retrieving daily OR schedules and anesthesia records; verify that billing information has been obtained for all surgical procedures performed. * Serving as resource person for department staff on questions regarding billing and claims issues. * Providing positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations. * Contributing to the teamwork within and between departments and organizations. To qualify, you must have: * The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations. * The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies. * A high school level of educational development and up to one year of basic technical training in medical terminology * 2 to 3 years of previous experience in medical billing and payment procedures. Proficient computer and data entry and retrieval skills required. * The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine. * The ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.
