Position Summary Performs the duties of the PSA I and II, plus specialty specific advanced field support skills. One (1) year recent experience as a PSA II.

Responsibilities May assist surgeon at surgical field by passing instrumentation at skin closure once the counts are completed and specimens are removed.

May be the primary scrub on closed procedures, splint and cast applications, and closed fracture reductions.

Understands the basic rules and principles of aseptic technique and preparation and maintenance of the surgical field. Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or surgeon, the PSA III duties may include: performing patient preps, checking of the case carts, preparing equipment and supplies for specialty procedures, setting up rooms per preference cards, assisting with position of patients for procedures and applying the dressing to closed wound.

Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. May have limited access to areas storing medications. Qualifications Education/Training High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification Maintains BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Experience One (1) year recent experience as a PSA II.
