Nemours is seeking a FULL-TIME Perinatal Registered Nurse Coordinator to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children's Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. The Perinatal Coordinator (PC) is the front line provider for the Nemours Center for Fetal Care and Maternal Fetal Medicine program. They are accountable for creating an environment that leads to a positive patient care experience by evaluating, planning and implementing effective plans of care and communicating with providers, patients and their families. The PC serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the PC will take the lead in the coordination of a clear and concise care plan for all Perinatal patients in a manner that meets the needs of the patient and family first. In addition to coordination of care, the PC will obtain appropriate patient consents and authorizations for medical treatment and procedures. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during physical exams and medical procedures. Provide individualized telephonic support, including in-depth patient education, monitoring, and telephonic triage of the high risk perinatal population, under the direction of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician team. This position will support Nemours patients and families in experiencing continuity of care within the Nemours system. The PC is responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assurance and improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours

Collaborates and facilitates care to families with a multi-disciplinary health care team to implement a specific plan of care for defined perinatal high risk members, for optimal outcome of mothers and babies.
Ensures appropriate prenatal consultation with specialties and fetal imaging.
Assists with and facilitates the identification and tracking of prenatal patients at risk for preterm labor, current pregnancy induced hypertension and others, per entrance criteria. Provides comprehensive educational interventions to defined members. Promotes member's understanding of her risk factors and her level of knowledge of signs and symptoms of complications. Includes verbal and written instructions on side effects and actions of prescribed medications.
Communicates with families to ensure an understanding of the referral process and what to expect at their visit. Accompanies families to prenatal consultations.
Coordinates, implements, and evaluates patient teaching plans for areas of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, anticoagulant therapy, therapeutic diet instruction, weight control, and other areas as designated. Sets-up, performs, and/or assists with procedures as appropriate.
Communicates results with referring OB/GYN and family.
Arranges all initial postnatal follow up's. Documents and monitors outcomes on high risk fetal center patients.
Provides referral support for our partnering providers.
Participates in Nemours Center for Fetal Care outreach initiatives
Participates in and represents the Perinatal Team in department programs and meetings.
Active Florida Registered Nurse License Required
Minimum of three years experience required; Perinatal, Obstetrical, and/or Neonatal nursing experience preferred.
