Georgia-Pacific's Consumer Products Group is currently searching for a Shift Coach for the Converting Department at the mill in Halsey, OR. This key leadership role is responsible for the performance and development of individual team members to deliver on product system metrics. This position will have about 35 direct reports across 9 converting assets across the mill; reporting to the Performance and Capability Leader/Converting Superintendent. The successful candidate will gain a foundation for leading teams in a Market Based Management (MBM) company, with career growth opportunities in operations.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Leading, mentoring, supervising, coaching and developing hourly employees utilizing the MBM Guiding Principles and Operations Excellence tools to improve capability and performance

  • Facilitating knowledge transfer to and among team members to enable them to succeed

  • Facilitating crew level safety action plans and safety meetings with area Master Techs that support the mill's safety vision and Environmental, Health & Safety excellence

  • Ensuring employee's roles, responsibilities, and expectations (RR&E's) are aligned with plant and organizational goals and that team members know how to create maximum value for the company

  • Creating an environment where the team values hazard identification and risk reduction

  • Interfacing with Manufacturing Engineers, Performance Capability Leader, Skill Developer and other team members, to identify and address performance gaps

  • Providing frequent performance feedback and developing annual 360 feedback summaries

  • Working with the team to execute asset strategies

  • Ensuring decision making and actions are consistent with the collective bargaining agreement language and intent

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • One (1) or more years of manufacturing experience OR previous supervisory/management experience

  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and overtime

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry

  • Experience supervising, mentoring and training employees

  • Experience with timekeeping systems (i.e. Kronos, WorkDay, ADP, ect)

  • Experience using software to manage and document EHS incidents, maintenance work orders, inventory and machine productivity

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 productivity tools including Teams and SharePoint

  • Experience managing employee data in a human capital management system (i.e. Lawson, SAP, Infor, WorkDay, etc.)

This role reports to the fiber and utilities Operation Manager. A Day In The Life Typically Includes: * Efficiently coordinating maintenance work (mechanical, electrical, and instrument) by anticipating, prioritizing, & scheduling work * Leading structured Planning and Scheduling meetings on a weekly basis per established cadence * Leveraging precision maintenance techniques through your expectation of how work is completed * Championing timely identification and development of maintenance outage work * Improving reliability of converting assets with disciplined execution of maintenance work processes ensuring on-time execution of preventative and predictive maintenance work * Troubleshooting equipment and participating in root cause failure analysis to identify and resolve equipment failures * Demonstrating a proper sense of urgency and discipline to balance break-in and scheduled work, provide a weekly forecast of work to schedule * Utilizing economic and critical thinking and risk-taking mentality to ensure maintenance spend creates long term value for the product system and mill * Own, control, and forecast maintenance spending to meet maintenance cost budget expectations * Reviewing EH&S Work Orders and requests with Planning and Scheduling team weekly * Assisting in manpower optimization and sharing with other Reliability Coordinators * Maintaining required metrics and providing explanations for metric performance on a weekly and monthly basis What You Will Need: Basic Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED * Four (4) years or more of maintenance or operations experience in a manufacturing environment * Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook What Will Put You Ahead?
