Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Performance Excellence Specialist to join our dynamic team in Louisville, KY! The Performance Excellence Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and efficiency of operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization, focusing on optimizing processes and outcomes to support the organization's mission of saving and enhancing lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The Specialist is responsible for assessing, analyzing, and implementing strategies to enhance performance across various aspects of the organization. The Specialist consults, coaches, and supports leaders and staff in moving towards achievement of performance excellence by creating and sustaining improvements and projects within clinical and non-clinical settings.
This position requires significant travel.
Responsibilities
Identification of Improvement Opportunities
Evaluates the performance of key organizational functions in collaboration with leaders and key stakeholders.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement in processes, workflows, and procedures that impact performance outcomes and organizational efficiency.
Conducts root cause analyses to identify underlying issues contributing to performance challenges and develop targeted solutions.
Implementation of Best Practices
Works closely with department heads and stakeholders to develop comprehensive improvement plans, outlining specific goals, timelines, and associated metrics to achieve desired results.
Identifies and facilitates use of evidence-based continuous quality improvement (CQI) and innovation strategies and best practices to drive operational improvements and ongoing enhancements towards performance excellence.
Assists leaders in implementing a process improvement program and carries out corresponding initiatives designed to integrate improvement and performance excellence into daily operations.
Develops and maintains project plans, logs, milestones, agendas, and meeting notes.
Reports routinely on the results of performance improvement efforts, highlighting successes and areas for further development.
Consulting, Coaching, & Educating
Develops and delivers education to ensure administrators, leaders and front-line staff members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify performance opportunities and support improvement initiatives.
Provides consultation, training, and support to leaders and front-line staff members to utilize standardized quality methods and tools to effectively solve problems and address opportunities for improvement.
Provides coaching to leaders and front-line staff members through metrics development and assists in tracking the impact of operational improvement initiatives.
Facilitates cross-functional teams to solve problems, using established improvement and change management methods and tools.
Facilitates meetings and workshops to foster collaboration and engagement around improvement initiatives and achievement of performance excellence.
Performance Excellence
Monitors and assesses the effectiveness of improvement plans and initiatives, conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure successful implementation and management of change.
Continuously monitors performance metrics and outcomes for improvement plans and initiatives, proactively identifying trends and areas for further improvement to maintain high standards of performance.
Researches and stays current with emerging process improvement methodologies and trends.
Communicates performance improvement efforts and outcomes to stakeholders, including leadership, staff members, and external partners.
Acts as a resource and subject matter expert on performance improvement, implementation, and change management methodologies and techniques within the OPO.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering, healthcare, business management, quality management, or a related field. Where applicable, extensive experience may be substituted for education requirements and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in performance improvement, quality management, or a related role.
Preferred
Certification in performance improvement or quality management or project management (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management Professional).
Familiarity with healthcare operations, processes, and performance improvement.
