Lankenau Medical Center has an immediate need for a per diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
The Per diem, Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of Nuclear Medicine procedures. The Technologist exercises professional judgment in performance of services following established protocols and maintains a demeanor complimentary to MLH standards and medical ethics. The Technologist also provides appropriate care for all patient populations. This role demonstrates the ability to work independently in provision of services.
Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures.
Verifies patient's clinical history procedure, ensuring information is accurate, documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Actively participates in the identification of patients, confirming patient demographics, correct procedure, correct side and site, using active communication.
Selects and operates Nuclear Medicine equipment, imaging and associated accessories to successfully complete an examination.
Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting the patient's ability and comfort.
Immobilizes patient as required for appropriate examination.
Determines applicable Nuclear Medicine protocol.
Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others and in accordance with MLH Imaging Gently program.
Determines pregnancy status as appropriate and follow procedures to limit gonadal exposure.
Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification are recorded and resolves PACS QA issues.
May inject contrast material if credentialed by Medical Director.
Applies principles of confidentiality (HIPAA) to all hospital and patient matters.
Documentation and reporting of adverse events, utilizing Patient Safety Network (PSN).
Primary Customers or Key Working Relationships:
Patients, patient families, medical staff Imaging staff, all staff members, external agencies, other affiliates, vendors
1.Graduate of anapproved program.
2.Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (R) or CNMT with one year of hire required.
Licensures & Certifications:
BLS Certification by American Heart Association
Minimum one year recent Nuclear Medicine experience preferred
