Maine Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a boarded or board-eligible Part-Time or Per Diem Radiologist to support the imaging department. This role will work hand in hand with the existing specialty and emergency teams, and provides the opportunity to have clinical exposure and the reward of case completion and collaboration without the commitment of full-time employment. We are open to a wide array of scheduling options, and will have work available as much or as little as you would like to be onsite!

The Radiologist will provide support for the in-house specialty services. The equipment on site includes two brand new Sound DR units, a Philips Epiq 5 ultrasound, a Siemens scope 16 slice CT, a GE 9800 C arm, and a 1.5T MRI. The hospital currently performs a high volume of radiographic, ultrasound, and multiplanar advanced imaging studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and improves quality of diagnostic imaging.

  • Deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress.

  • Stay current with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.

  • Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.


  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

  • Licensure in good standing in the State of Maine or ability to get licensure in Maine.

  • Completion of radiology residency. ACVR diplomate status or board eligible.

As a Technologist Assistant you will provides assistance to MRI Technologists in areas that allow the Technologist to maintain an on-time schedule and run the diagnostic imaging scanning area in an orderly fashion.</p><p>You'll be part of a team providing a wide range of screening, diagnostic and interventional procedures with compassion and integrity to ensure the highest quality, access, service and value to our patients, referring providers and partners. This position is per diem.</p><p>Essential Duties:</p><p>(70%) Technologist Assistance</p><ul><li><p>Monitors MRI, CT, arthrogram and x-ray schedules</p></li><li><p>Adjusts patients schedule when necessary and keeping all techs informed of any changes</p></li><li><p>Greets and escorts patients to changing room; briefly explains procedure</p></li><li><p>Prepares patient jackets and compiles films putting them together in appropriate jacket according to date and number</p></li><li><p>Prepares room set up between patients, including putting proper coil on table, putting previous coil away and changing table sheet</p></li><li><p>Assists patients on and/or off table when requested by technologist</p></li><li><p>Reviews paperwork to ensure it is complete and hand faxes to IC in timely fashion</p></li><li><p>Prints schedules and request forms for next day</p></li><li><p>Helps the technologist stay on time by having the next patient ready before the current patient is ready to get off the table</p></li><li><p>Restores and networks all previous exams for next day's returning patients</p></li></ul><p>(20%) Cleaning &amp; Organization</p><ul><li><p>Stocks and cleans work and control areas and MRI room(s)</p></li><li><p>Ensures that all MRI patient areas are stocked and organized in a neat and tidy manner</p></li><li><p>Cleans and stocks patient prep room and patient restroom</p></li><li><p>Stocks linen and empties laundry at the end of the night</p></li><li><p>Organizes and cleans supply closet and computer rooms</p></li><li><p>Organizes radiologist reading area after radiologist has left for the day</p></li><li><p>Checks with MRI technologists, IC, Medical Records and/or Front Office for additional duties as needed</p></li></ul><p>(10%) Performs other duties as assigned</p><p>NoTemporary/PRN</p><p>Required:</p><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent</li></ul><p>Preferred:</p><ul><li>Enrollment in current radiologic technologist program</li></ul><p>RAYUS Radiology is challenging the status quo by shining the light on radiology and making it a critical first step in diagnosis and proper treatment.
