Supplemental Medical Assistant I

Location: Spring Medical Center

Job Type: Supplemental/Per Diem

  • All applicants considered whom possess 1 year of MA experience or completed a MA Externship with Kelsey Seybold Clinic or possess no experience but are currently Certified as a Medical Assistant*
  • Position will be upgraded/downgraded based on candidates experience and certification*

JOB SUMMARY

Certified Medical Assistant II provides supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the MA by the physician or RN. This position requires additional duties which include administration of injectables and or other high level skill performance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

(A = basics; B = preferred)

Education

A.

High School Diploma or GED and

Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program

B.

Experience

A.
3 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant.

B.

Ambulatory Care experience

Successful completion of an externship at Kelsey-Seybold
1 year of experience related to department or specialty

Licenses

A.

Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant

B.

Special Skills

A.

Those hired into this position must complete the review/skill validation program within 90 days of hire.

Able to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population. Computer experience.

Basic Medical & Nursing terminology

B.

Windows bases computer skills

EPIC experience

Other

A.

BLS certified

Complete the module specific program(s) for MAII e.g. Immunizations-primary; Immunizations-OB/GYN; Wound Care, etc

B.
