Are you an early-in-career Human Resources professional looking for a hands-on role at a great organization? As People and Culture Business Partner (P&C BP), you will primarily be responsible for performing administrative tasks and supporting the efficient operation of the P&C department.

This role will also resolve employee relations issues and assist in complex employee investigations. We'll look to you to help build, improve, and sustain working relationships and align strategic objectives with employees and management to support an environment where dedication thrives, the Watkins Way. This role works closely with the entire People & Culture group and the Employee Wellness and Operations teams.

YOUR RIPPLE EFFECT

  • Are you customer-focused? You will act as the first point of contact for employee service needs, providing advice to employees on the appropriate interpretation and application of HR benefits, policies, processes, and practices. You will partner with the Service Center at our parent company, Masco, and will assist employees with benefit and other questions and any related follow-up.

  • Do you have employee relations experience? You will handle employee relations issues and will assist other Business Partners in investigations, with the goal of improving working relationships, building morale and increasing engagement, productivity, and retention. You will audit onsite direct line comment boxes and route to P&C VP.

  • Can you navigate complexity and ambiguity? You will manage daily attendance and headcount metrics and will make determinations on any related disciplinary actions.

    Further, you will participate in and drive various projects related to Alternate Work Schedules and other HR business practices and policies. You will manage our employee termination process, in close collaboration with managers and the wider P&C team. This duty will require you to conduct exit interviews to collect information regarding employee experience, reasons for leaving, and any other feedback.

  • Are you organized and meticulous? You will be responsible for the maintenance and archival of all active/terminated employee files and will own the proper filing of all records, such as personnel, benefits, termination, open enrollment, training records, annual and off cycle paper performance reviews, and I-9's.

  • Can you support the team with ongoing data entry? You will perform data entry in various systems, audits and related to legal/informational postings. We'll rely on you to respond to unemployment claims and provide support for unemployment hearings.

  • Are you analytical? You will assist in reviewing and interpreting data and metrics regarding workforce trends and may prepare or assist in PowerPoint presentations and other documents in support of new programs, existing programs, areas of concern, etc.

  • Are you a great teammate? You will participate in team projects, meetings, trainings and other events when appropriate and will assist the People & Culture department with special events.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; one-three years related experience and/or training, including direct experience with employee relations issues. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish (reading, writing, speaking) required.

  • Knowledge of California employment/HR law a plus.

  • PHR, SHRM, or other Human Resources Certification a plus.

  • Regular user in MS Office suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word. Must be able to prepare reports, worksheets, charts, schedules, procedures, and other data as necessary.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization, including the ability to present information to a group of coworkers, supervisors, managers, or higher-level executives.

  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision, as well as within a proven team environment.

  • Willingness and ability to work 100% onsite at our Vista, California headquarters.

  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for external meetings/trainings. Travel to Tijuana, Mexico may be required.

Hiring Range: $51,370.00-81,000.00
