Job Summary:

This People Analytics Analyst role will serve as the lead for the development and maintenance of human capital business intelligence solutions including

Delivery of dashboards through PowerBI. Leveraging our internal toolset to manage the ETL related activities to join, cleanse, and transform raw data into tidy data sets for downstream consumption. Utilizing data profiling techniques to become familiar with the data sets being leveraged with the capability to identify insights. Modeling data for both predicative and scenario based analysis.

Activities may include the following as well as others:

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Leverages internal systems to draw down from data sources

  • Manages BI development lifecycle (small project management including technical build, and stakeholder management)

  • Performs ETL duties including blending, joining, enriching, cleansing, and transforming of data

  • Consults on upstream processes that impact BI infrastructure

  • Models data to provide predictive insights

  • Builds integrations w/ Workday EIBs

  • Manages data pipeline for internal analytics work

  • Maintains and refreshes BI solutions in production

Job Level Specifications:

  • Extensive knowledge and application of principles, theories and concepts. Complete knowledge of all job functions and the broad industry best practices, techniques and standards.

  • Specifically preattentive processing, data visualization best practices, data management including tidy datasets, and statistics

  • Develops solutions to complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variables. Determines best method to achieve results and may make suggestions to improve policies and procedures.

  • Work is performed without appreciable direction using independent judgment and discretion. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Work may be reviewed at a high level. Might supervise 1 - 2 individuals who provide tactical/operational support.

  • Represents organization as a prime contact on projects or contracts. Interacts frequently with senior professionals and management and often has to coordinate the work between departments or organizations.

  • Actions impact the organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions will result in the inability to reach crucial organizational goals and may have a prolonged effect, as well as, result in the expenditure of substantial resources.

Work Experience:

  • 6-9 years with bachelor's or equivalent

  • Must Haves

  • Hands on development experience in a modern data visualization tool such as PowerBI, Tableau, or QlikView usually gained through hands on development in a production environment for 2 years

  • Hands on development experience in creating and maintaining data pipelines usually gained through hands on development in a production environment for 2 years

  • The ability to critically think and assess analytics solutions both from a technical and functional perspective

  • Eager to learn beyond their current area of expertise and the same passion for sharing their knowledge with others

  • Ability to work autonomously with a self-starter mentality

  • Nice to Haves

  • Experience w/ Alteryx

  • HR/People Analytics experience

  • Project management experience

  • Workday experience

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Manage the personnel actions for assigned staff which includes but is not limited to, approving vacation, coaching and counseling, conducting ongoing check-ins, hiring new employees, making salary or merit increase recommendations, training and evaluating employees. 7. Maintain relationships with Agile Release Team leadership, including Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Product Management and Release Train Engineers across the University to ensure consistency of practices and processes. 8. Manage vendor relationships for assigned contract staff resources. 9. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
