The Physician Referral Nurse (RN)-Contact Center is responsible for answering telephone calls to the Penn Medicine Contact Center from consumers and healthcare providers. The Referral Nurse will assist the caller in navigating the Penn Medicine Health System by providing information and access to Penn Medicine providers, programs, services, educational seminars, events and resources.
The Referral Nurse also performs outbound calls for the Web Marketing campaigns and pennmedicine.org submissions. The Referral Nurse will also facilitate Live Chat contacts originating from the Penn Medicine website. The Referral Nurse uses Marketing cross sells as part of the caller engagement to promote preventative health services and other programs, initiatives and events.
The Referral Nurse supports the Penn Medicine Patient Signature Services via appointment and inquiry assistance for Penn Passport, Patient Facilitated Services, Executive Health and Penn Global Medicine. Second opinions are also facilitated for the international patient.
The Referral Nurse will assist with routing triage for cancer related calls as well as cancer clinical trial referrals to the Abramson Cancer Center Clinical Trials Information Service. The Referral Nurse will assist referring healthcare providers with real time consultations with Penn Medicine providers. All calls and interactions are processed and documented via interactive software programs.
