Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This professional licensed physical therapy position specializes in the treatment of patients with pelvic dysfunction. The Pelvic Health Physical Therapist provides individualized care to patients through education on pain, injury, injury prevention, ergonomics and postural restoration/balancing, and integrative wellness (stress management, nutrition, sleep management, exercise and fitness); instruction in therapeutic exercise programs for improvement of strength, mobility, coordination, posture, aerobic capacity, endurance, and emotional health; manual traction, spinal and peripheral joint mobilization; clinical and therapeutic massage/soft tissue mobilization/manipulation; dry needling; therapeutic activities; neuromuscular re-education; gait training and running treadmill analysis; post-concussion rehabilitation; vestibular rehabilitation; pelvic and women's health; functional movement screening; wellness, health, and performance education/coaching; testing/criteria for return to activity/play; taping; orthotic fabrication and brace fitting; modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, interferential, iontophoresis, TENS, ice/heat packs, and ice massage; and student and campus consults, in-service and educational programs. The Physical Therapist works closely with physical therapy staff, medical staff, patients and their families. The incumbent also interacts with other department and clinic managers, nursing staff, clinician staff, clinic lead physicians, and administrative staff as well.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Appropriate clinical skills, professional presentation to meet the demands of patient care, motivational interviewing, positive communication with patients to gain understanding and compliance with treatment plan, and ability to collaborate with other therapists, medical providers, and staff. Training in trauma-informed care.

Clinical Physical Therapy:
Practices safe, effective, and appropriate Physical Therapy care in accordance with UHC protocols and policies and the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy regulations.
Evaluates and treats patients in accordance with appropriate and evidence-based Physical Therapy practice.
Determines needs for care with consideration for age-specific, activity, functional needs, and patient goals.
Provides individualized education and treatment plans for each patient and provides ongoing care and support to patients as needed.
Provides care using clinically appropriate therapeutic interventions to ensure the patient's ongoing improvement, return to function and patient goal acquisition.
Documents encounters thoroughly in a concise, timely, detailed, and informative manner using electronic medical record and any other accompanying documentation as needed.
Uses motivational interviewing, patient education, and excellence in practice to help develop therapeutic alliance, patient resilience and empowerment, and promotion/maintenance of health, fitness and wellness.
Provides high quality evidence-based care with proficiency in foundational areas along with specialized knowledge and skills in domains where clinician is passionate.
Effectively addresses and documents concerns of patients and family.
Consults with prescribing physician appropriately and as needed.

Patient Education:
Provides age appropriate and condition specific education to patients, UHC staff, student groups on campus, and other groups on topics including pain, injury prevention, ergonomics, postural restoration, integrative wellness, and other topics promoting physical health and wellness.
Supports a learning environment for patients that foster achievement of defined individual rehabilitation goals.
Provides information on injury prevention as part of treatment plan.
Ensures that appropriate patient education materials are readily available.
Uses contacts with students as an opportunity for health promotion, wellness and education. Utilizes secure messaging and approved education handouts to assist with patient education.

Advises UHC clinical staff on patient care management, techniques, treatment options, therapy recommendations, and patient care in a collaborative treatment model.
Leads by example with a strong work ethic and mission to provide excellence in care and devotion to helping internal and external customers.
Will act on behalf of the department during the absence of the Manager.
Contributes to culture of service excellence.
Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities
Professional Development:
Obtains appropriate continuing education credits as a requirement in maintaining license and professional certifications.
Active engagement and participation in professional development opportunities in department and organization (e.g.: lunch-n-learns, research article review/discussion, group/department Physical Therapy staff learning and practice of skills/techniques/exam/treatments, peer reviews).
